Cerberus pullback may hasten exit
from German real estate market
In a further sign that major private equity funds have miscalculated the profit potential in German residential apartments, the US private equity group Cerberus said last week that it is looking for an immediate exit from the Hanover-based housing company BauBeCon, which owns 22,000 formerly union-owned apartments. This comes a mere eighteen months after Cerberus had bought BauBeCon from the trade-union property group BGAG for over 1 billion. |
